ABOUT GIOIOSA'S

1947: Gioiosa's Liquor Store was founded by Carl Gioiosa (early advertising found and documented). The Gioiosa brothers were prominent business people in Plattsburgh - they owned the liquor store, and ice cream store, and G&G Tire. ("G&G Tire" was short for "Gioiosa & Gioiosa".)

1980: The Skyway Shopping Center was built, and after a few new owners, Gioiosa's Liquor Store moved and opened at 26 Skyway Shopping Center. The original store opened with 400 square feet of retail selling space.

2002: The store was purchased by the current owner - Rick Latour.

2005: Changes made to that small liquor store. The store moved from 26 Skyway to 28 Skyway and took over the space once occupied by O'Brien Video. The store went from 400 sq. Ft. To 2,600 sq ft. A new point of sale system was implemented as well as a new security system. The new space thrived as the buying pattern grew, leading to lower pricing and more volume buying. The original store space was now occupied by a vinyl fence display owned by the pet store located next door.

2007: The pet store closed and the original store space was again vacant. Gioiosa's Liquor Store took back that space to add to the space they had bringing the total square footage to 3,000 sq ft. The store incorporated and became Gioiosa's Wine and Spirits, Inc. The new sales space worked well for a few years, but the store's growth exceeded the size restraints.

2010: The Pella Window Store (located at 24 Skyway Shopping Center) moved to a new location, leaving an empty 3,000 sq ft space. That space was acquired by Gioiosa's, bringing the total retail space for Gioiosa's Wine & Spirits, Inc. to 6,000 sq.ft. It is now the 2nd largest liquor store in Clinton County. Gioiosa's now occupies 3 store fronts. Sales went from $356,000 in 2002 to over $1.5 million in 2015.
